Founded in 1867 By Edwin Reeves, from Sherborne in Dorset, on a site opposite the Croydon Parish Church in Church Street, the west country Cooper traded with his wife brothers and son, introducing ironmongery, furniture and a secondhand department. Edwins son, William Arthur, expanded the company opening braches in Caterham and the original home town of Sherbourne. In 1947 William ceased to be a sole trader and the company became a private limited company. William T Reeves became the Managing Director and ruled the company until his death in 1982, when his son Maurice succeeded him. Now retired, Maurice leaves the running of the Company to his 2 sons, Trevor and Graham and the third director David Barnes.
